All the dialogue stuff comes up on a pipboy. There are some weird things where it's similar to fallout though. If anything you are the robotic one, because since you were a kid you were trained as an atom agent, and one of their basic kindergarten level classes on intelligence gathering is when you are out in the wastes, always ask "who, what, where, rumors". Every NPC has a backstory, unique dialogue, and the towns really do feel like every person is a real human. The setting is dark and dreary, as you'd expect from Russian post apocalyptic fantasy, but surprisingly the people are very colorful. It really sucks, because it's a while before you get anything as nice as the AK they gave you to start with. It is possible to win the encounter if you chose to play a combat specialist, but the game is really just trying to show you your place in the world. Spoiler alert, you immediately get robbed on your first night after the tutorial level. You are a well equipped scrub, but they also sent out other scrubs because they are the Russian army, they know most of you will die, and it doesn't bother them that much. You are just the youngest person in their base who is old enough to send on a mission. They have a bunker, but they send people out, and for the most part they pretend ATOM doesn't exist.Īnd you aren't the chosen one or anything. They are basically the Russian military response to rebuilding the country after nuclear war. It's not set in the same universe as fallout, but in 1986 Russia undergoes a nuclear apocalypse, and 19 years later, you are a fresh faced cadet of ATOM (they are kinda like the Rangers from Wasteland or the original Brotherhood of Steel). If you have a friend that likes fallout lore but can't handle the fallout controls, suggest atom rpg with a controller. If you like Fallout 2, you'll like Atom RPG. I really, really want to say that the AToM was not intended to be used to make magic items. But the rules prohibit spending more then 8 hours a day, and you cannot work on more then 2 items a day since that has to be broken down into 4 hour blocks. You cannot use this feat to create any spell-trigger or spell-activation item.Īccording to this, it wouldn't work now that I'm thinking.Ĭonsidering that in the magic item creation section it does allow the creator to work on up to two items in a day, but only in 4 hour blocks per item, I would say it would be possible to use the AToM to spend 1 hour to produce 2000gp worth of enchanted product, and then spend the next 4 hours without the AToM to produce another 500gp worth of enchanted product but that would be a different item. The Amazing Tools of Manufacture specifically state they function when using the Craft skill to craft an item.
